Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this...Hi Nikki! Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this subject! Sorry it's taken so long to respond...
I'd like to point out 2 things in response:
1. I think your responding to Paul being a people pleaser based on the usual conception of "people pleasing". I think that my blog redefined what it means to be a godly people pleaser. The last paragraph (just before the Scripture) lays this all out.
2. You're right, the people who persecuted Paul were not pleased with Paul or the gospel he was presenting. But we are never responsible for people's reactions. We are responsible for how we conduct ourselves and what we say. Galatians 1:10 is speaking to the issue of why Paul was doing what he was doing. It's not to gain the favor of men but to please God as a bond-servant of Christ. Hence, we speak the truth in love and do not present additional stumbling blocks so that "just as I try to please everyone in everything I do, not seeking my own advantage, but that of many, that they may be saved! 1 Cor. 10:33" Matt Daniellshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12197517160758689713noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7819860745213085820.post-50415331347005957642015-12-09T09:56:24.296-08:002015-12-09T09:56:24.296-08:00Hi Stacy, I know I told you in person, but again, ...Hi Stacy, I know I told you in person, but again, thank you! You've encouraged me with your kind words and your humility. If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a bond-servant of Christ."Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07503898297339281359noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7819860745213085820.post-53926332629791141812015-11-28T08:10:25.120-08:002015-11-28T08:10:25.120-08:00Although I think I understand what you're sayi...Although I think I understand what you're saying here (being a people pleaser myself) I have to say I disagree with your statement that Paul is a people pleaser. I seriously doubt that the people who stoned him, imprisoned him and lashed him several times were "pleased" with the gospel of Christ he was unrelentingly and unabashedly preaching. I'm a people pleaser because I was taught to give the benefit of the doubt and be at peace with all so far as it depends on me. I believe it's the way God wants us to live.

So with my hackles up and my words ready to give you a lesson on humility and Godliness, I got to the core of what you were driving towards...that being a people pleaser IS the temperament God would drive us to, if His will, word and spirit is the compulsion behind that temperament. I made the wrong conclusion before reading the whole thing.

So I got two lessons out of this...keep being who I am with Christ as the driving model to follow, and get the whole context before discounting another person's heart.

I'll be a regular reader of your blogs. Thanks for challenging me.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17998032075718206771noreply@blogger.com
